Macomb County Family Law Attorney

With a population of over 800,000 people, Macomb County is the third-most populous county in Michigan. Macomb is home to Warren, Sterling Heights, and Clinton Township, three of the ten most populated towns in Michigan.

The area we currently know as Macomb was first settled by the Ojibwe before Europeans made it to the Americas. Macomb County as we know it was officially formed in 1818, making it the third county formed in the state of Michigan. Named after War of 1812 veteran and Detroit-born Alexander Macomb, Macomb County interestingly shares a southeastern border with Canada.

Macomb County boasts over 12,000 acres of park, which many of their citizens use to swim, fish, hunt, and camp. Fishing in particular is a very popular activity, as Macomb has 31 miles of coastline and over 100 marinas within its borders. Not too many counties can boast several miles of coastline and a southern border with Canada!

Macomb is home to many athletes, actors, and celebrities. While there are celebrities from all over the entertainment landscape, the most famous people to hail from Macomb County are musicians Kid Rock, Eminem, and Alice Cooper, who all released platinum records at their height of their fame.

As of the 2010 census, 85% of people residing in Macomb County were white, 31% of households had children under the age of eighteen living in them, and four percent of families were under the poverty line. Macomb County’s emphasis on education appears to be succeeding, as over 85% of people graduated high school, which is higher than the rate in the rest of Michigan.

While Macomb is a great place to raise a family, over 50% of Macomb marriages end in divorce. If you are considering divorce, it is important to have an experienced, skilled attorney on your side.
